Gentech International Kazakhstan, LLP, operator of Block XXXI-36 acquired a total of 836 kilometers of new 2D seismic during the first half of 2008, exceeding the required minimum work commitment of 500 kilometers for the block during year one. This seismic survey represents the only seismic data ever recorded in the block. After completion of data processing in August 2008, structural mapping of this data resulted in a total of seven (7) independent prospects and one lead being identified.
The primary objective of each prospect is the Carboniferous platform carbonate sequence observed at depths ranging between 550 meters and 750 meters below the surface. Deeper secondary objectives residing in the older Devonian sandstones will be tested in each proposed well since all wells will be drilled to the basement.
The prospects have been ranked according to size and geological setting and subsequently evaluated for recoverable resource potential. Listed below are the unrisked estimated ultimate recoveries computed for the primary objective alone. No resource estimates have been computed for the secondary objective.
Four (4) wildcat locations have been proposed for drilling beginning in second half of 2009—fulfilling the minimum year two work commitment of three (3) exploration wells. These locations have been located on independent structural features and have been selected to test various hydrocarbon trap styles. All wells are scheduled to test the entire geologic column and are considered as basement tests.
